Sliding Clasp: It’s a type of clasp which is used to secure or hold the jewellery round leather cords that is inserted through it. It is generally found in a round shape and has a hole in the middle, which has silicone metal in the inner portion that helps the leather cord or any other cords to pass through easily and firmly holds it as well.
- Gather Supplies:
- 1.5mm Leather cord of your choice
- 1 Metal pendant with large loop of your choice
- 4 Small Beads With Big Holes (Make sure that it’s matches with the silver pendant that you have chosen)
- 1 Silicon Sliders
- 1 Barrel Nut Tubes
- Cutters or Scissors
- Determine the length of the necklace and cut the cord as per that measurement. Keep in mind that we will be making lots of knot in this necklace, so make sure to leave some extra cords. We can trim the excess in the end if needed, it’s always better to keep enough of excess cords.
- Now, pick up the pendant and put it through the cord in a way so that it remains in the centre of the cord, leaving the even size of cords in the both sides of the pendant.
- Now, by using the barrel tubes we are going to put a knot near the pendant in both the sides. Hence, by using your fingers hold the place at the cord where we want the knot to be, take the barrel, keep it on the top of cord and wrap the cord thrice around it. After that bring the end of cord through the barrel than pull the barrel out by holding the knot with fingers properly so that it doesn’t slips out and make a neat knot. Try to keep the knot at a closer distance from the pendant. Repeat the same process and make a similar barrel knot in the opposite side of the pendant.
- Start beading the cords with the beads you have chosen, like three beads in the both sides of the pendant and make barrel knots in between each beads by applying same methods as mentioned in the step 3.
- Once done with beading, measure the length of the necklace cord and trim it if needed.
- Take one end of the cord and put the silicon slider through the cord. Grab the other end of cord, trim it little bit to give it a pointed shape and push it through the same slider loop. Both the ends will pass through the same slider like interweave. Place the slider in the centre so that it has equivalent sizes of extra cord hanging in both the sides of the necklace. With this step we have made the closure of this knotted necklace.
- Lastly, we are going to make same barrel knots by applying the methods described in the step 3 in the ends of the cords. Trim the extra cords, to give it a finishing look.
